Dr. Anthony Bufo performs general surgery with a specialty in pediatric and neonatal surgeries. For 13 years Dr. Bufo managed a solo practice, treating pediatric tumors, as well as adult and pediatric traumas. Dr. Bufo then relocated to Sioux Falls, SD, where he worked the next 11 years as the only Pediatric Surgeon for the entire hospital system. He is proficient in all aspects of both open conventional surgeries as well as laparoscopically. He is blessed with a wonderful wife and a miracle 20-year-old daughter who was a 24-week preemie.
Katie Wright specializes in pediatric general surgery. She began her nursing career in the operating room in Humboldt, TN in 2004 and has experience in a variety of patient areas including surgery, recovery room, HIV care, and oncology. She is a member of the Association of Perioperative Nurses, American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and both the Tennessee Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association.
Dr. Leah Akinseye is a board-certified physician specializing in pediatric endocrinology, including the treatment of growth and puberty disorders, thyroid disease, adrenal gland disorders and metabolic bone disorders. She also helps her patients in the management of diabetes, lipid disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, and childhood obesity. Dr. Akinseye earned her medical degree in her native Nigeria before moving to the United States to complete her residency and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She joined Baptist Medical Group in 2021.
Dr. Walter C. Ifeadike is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He specializes in Pediatric Gastroenterology and sees patients in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dr. Karabell joined The Endocrine Clinic after finishing her pediatrics residency and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at University of Tennessee, where she was an attending and assistant professor there. Dr. Karabell received her medical degree from University of Central Venezuela, Caracas, and moved to Memphis with her family in 2000.
Penne Drake is a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Pediatric Pulmonology. Penne oversees the Pediatric Synagis Clinic for high-risk RSV patients. She also leads multiple initiatives within the Pediatric Service Line including System Pediatric Education, the Pediatric Optimization Committee, and System LILY. Penne holds additional certifications in Evidence-Based Practice and Emergency Nursing. She has experience in pediatric critical care, surgery, and the emergency department. She is a member of a number of organizations including the AAP, NAPNAP, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Penne enjoys spending time with her husband and two beautiful children.
Dr. Cheryl Fergerson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holds active licensure for practice in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. She has served as a medical social worker with expertise in the areas of adult trauma injury, internal medicine, and pediatric palliative and hospice care. Dr. Fergerson holds certification from the National Association of Social Workers as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker (ACHP-SW). Before shifting her career to medical social work, Dr. Fergerson spent more than 13 years in child welfare practice with Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Juvenile Justice programs. Dr. Fergerson is a member of the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), NASW-National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society, and The Association for Successful Parenting (TASP).
